The Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly has successfully organized a disbursement programme aimed at empowering persons with disabilities in the municipality, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive development and social equity.
Speaking at the event, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Ebenezer Cobbinah described the programme as a practical demonstration of the Assembly’s belief that persons who are differently abled should not be defined by their limitations but by their abilities, resilience, and determination
“Persons who are differently abled are not defined by their limitations but by their ability, resilience, and determination,” the MCE stated.

Hon. Cobbinah emphasized that persons with disabilities are an integral and valued part of society and that the municipality’s development agenda would remain incomplete without their full inclusion.
As part of the initiative, the assembly distributed essential livelihood equipment, including fufu pounding machines, corn milling machines, hair dryers, wheelbarrows, and other working tools to beneficiaries.
He explained that the items were intended to promote self-reliance, dignity, and sustainable income generation.
> “These items are not merely donations; they are investments into livelihoods, dignity, and sustainable income generation,” he noted.

In addition to the equipment, the Assembly supported 15 beneficiaries with prosthetic limbs, restoring mobility, confidence, and hope to recipients.
> “This intervention underscores our resolve to ensure that no one is left behind in our quest for inclusive development,” Hon. Cobbinah added.
The MCE further highlighted the importance of capacity building within the Assembly’s social intervention programmes. He expressed pride in the sensitization initiatives organized for the disability community, focusing on their rights, visibility, and social inclusion.
Addressing the beneficiaries directly, Hon. Cobbinah encouraged them to make effective use of the equipment provided to enhance their economic status and ensure family sustainability.
“I encourage you not to allow your present situation to overshadow your future life progression,” he urged.
The programme also coincided with the commemoration of the International Day of the Deaf and International Blind Day, reflecting the Assembly’s unwavering dedication to promoting awareness, equality, and respect for all persons, regardless of physical ability.

In his closing remarks, the MCE called on traditional authorities, civil society organizations, development partners, and the private sector to continue working collaboratively with the assembly to advance inclusive development in the municipality.
“Inclusive development is a shared responsibility, and together, we can build a society where everyone has the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to development,” he concluded.
