Management of Ghanaian dancehall heavyweight Shatta Wale has confirmed that the artiste has instructed his legal team to file a defamation lawsuit against broadcaster and musician Blakk Rasta, following a series of public statements described as false and damaging.

In a statement issued on Monday, January 19, 2026, and released in Accra, Shatta Wale’s management said the decision was taken after remarks made by Blakk Rasta were deemed injurious to the artiste’s personal and professional reputation.

The statement emphasized that while Shatta Wale has consistently demonstrated respect for freedom of expression and the critical role of the media in public discourse, such freedoms must be exercised with responsibility.

“Freedom of speech carries with it a responsibility to ensure accuracy, fairness, and professionalism, particularly when commentary concerns the character and integrity of individuals,” the management noted.

According to the release, the move to seek legal redress was not taken lightly. Management explained that the action is aimed at protecting Shatta Wale’s reputation and reinforcing the importance of responsible broadcasting and commentary within Ghana’s media landscape.

With the matter now before the courts, Shatta Wale and his team have indicated they will refrain from further public commentary on the issue, allowing due process to take its course. They expressed confidence in Ghana’s judicial system to fairly address the concerns raised.

Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, management assured fans, partners, and the general public that the award-winning artiste remains fully focused on his music, ongoing projects, and positive contributions to the entertainment industry.

Media inquiries regarding the matter have been directed to the Public Relations Manager of the Shatta Movement Empire.
