The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation has commissioned a 40,000-litre capacity small-town water supply system for the Mehuntem community, marking a major milestone in efforts to improve access to clean and safe drinking water.
The newly completed facility is expected to serve more than 1,000 residents, including households, schools, and public institutions. The project directly addresses persistent water shortages in the area, helping to reduce the risk of waterborne diseases, promote better hygiene practices, and improve overall community health and wellbeing.

Constructed at a cost of over US$33,800, the initiative underscores the Foundation’s continued commitment to enhancing living standards within its host communities through sustainable development interventions.

The project was executed in collaboration with the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly and the Mehuntem Water and Sanitation (WATSAN) Committee, a partnership designed to promote local ownership, effective management, and long-term sustainability of the facility.

Through investments such as this, the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation continues to demonstrate that access to clean water is not merely a basic need, but a critical pillar for building healthier, stronger, and more resilient communities.
