The Ghana Airports Company Limited has announced that it will no longer tolerate cultural performances within its premises to welcome people without prior authorization frm them.

In a statement posted on its official social media handles, the company warned that no one will be allowed to engage in cultural displays without its approval, directing that individuals and groups intent on welcoming their loved ones with cultural displays must contact its Commercial Services Department to obtain the prerequisite approval and authorisation.

Individuals or groups intending to organise a cultural display at the airport to welcome a loved one are required to obtain prior approval.

Without prior approval and authorisation, you will not be allowed onto the premises.

Please contact the Commercial Services Department of GACL on 0302 550612 Ext. 6147 for guidance,” the statement said.

It is not uncommon to witness several displays – drumming, dancing, singing and ululations – to welcome people.

This has become an enduring feature of Ghana’s hospitable nature, but it appears that lately, there has been a spike in the performances requiring some regulation of the practice.
