The MP, who was addressing the killing of Ghanaian tomato traders in Burkina Faso, mispronounced the word “bereaved” during her speech on February 19, 2026.
The error quickly spread on social media, prompting ridicule from some users.
Speaking directly to her supporters on Facebook Live, Amankwaah challenged attempts to use the slip to question her competence.
“I am not going to shut this mouth that thousands of people voted for me to come to the chamber to express my view,” she said.
“I am a young, vibrant woman, and I am equally capable of delivering better within four years. I’m not a coward.”
She stressed that political affiliation should not be used as a tool to undermine her.
“So whoever is making mockery of my statements to destroy my image or pave the way for your candidate in 2028, know that 2028 belongs to God,” she said.
Amankwaah also called for honesty and focus on real issues, saying, “Let’s speak as young ones, spade to spade. No more political entertainment. Criticism is fine, but using a small mistake to question my potential is unfair.”
“There is nothing that will be beyond my scope of knowledge,” she said, emphasizing her commitment to serving effectively.
