President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and 2nd Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has held high-level discussions with the leadership of the United States Chamber of Commerce as part of Ghana’s ongoing preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

The engagement took place in Washington, D.C., where President Simeon-Okraku met with Rick C. Wade, Senior Vice President for Strategic Alliances and Outreach at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Guevera Yao, Vice President of the U.S.–Africa Business Center. The talks focused on areas of mutual interest and explored potential avenues for collaboration ahead of the global showpiece, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Discussions centred on building institutional partnerships to support Ghana’s World Cup campaign, with emphasis on commercial cooperation, logistics, fan engagement, and leveraging the tournament as a platform to enhance Ghana’s economic, cultural and sporting presence in North America. The engagement forms part of the GFA’s broader strategy to ensure that Ghana is well-positioned both competitively and operationally for the tournament.

The meeting with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce follows a series of strategic engagements by the GFA President in the United States. Earlier, President Simeon-Okraku held talks with Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Victor Emmanuel Smith and his team, as well as leadership of the State of Maryland, underscoring the Association’s commitment to coordinated planning and strong institutional support ahead of the World Cup.

Under the leadership of President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the Ghana Football Association remains focused on delivering a seamless and memorable World Cup experience for the Black Stars and Ghanaian fans, while advancing the country’s broader interests on the global stage.

Ghana has been drawn in Group L for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and will open their campaign against Panama in Toronto, before facing England in Boston and concluding the group stage against Croatia in Philadelphia.
